Apple has heard your prayers and will soon be giving us racially diverse emojis!
If you have been living under a rock for the past year or so then you may not know what emojis are. Emojis originally started in Asia and soon found there way to the U.S., where they became a staple for texting conversations.
Don’t have anything to say besides “lol” or “lmao” insert an emoji. When words can’t really explain how you feel? Use an emoji.
The grip that some had with the emojis was its lack of diversity but upon Apple’s upcoming iOS 8.3 update, that will no longer be a problem.
Beta testers who were given early access to the next version iOS began posting the racially diverse emojis online this past week.
Accessing the new characters will be simple. Select a emoji character from the people section and a pop up with various skin tones will become available. Like magic you now have a range of characters to choose from.
While the emojis were well received there were those who were upset about the lack of diversity in the diversity (i.e hair types).
All in all, iOS 8.3 will have 300 new emoji, including more diverse ones, and 32 new country flags!
According to 9to5 Mac, we can look forward to seeing the iOS 8.3 update hit all devices by the end of this year.
