Flir Security Camera Provides A New Perspective

The FLIR security camera, a thermal imaging and camera company is looking to take security cameras to the next level with their new FX Wi-Fi camera. While the FX does all the normal things a typical security camera does, what separates it from the pack is its RapidRecap technology.

RapidRecap is a highlight reel of all of the automatically-detected activity condensed into short clips to show you what happened throughout the day.

Since the device is connected to the internet, all of the footage is backed up in the cloud making your footage safe and secure. In case the device can’t connect to the internet, it will store all of the footage locally on a microSD card and will drop it in the cloud once it reconnects to the internet.

FLIR also provides both an iOS and Android app in case you want to take a peek at what’s going on while you’re on the go.

The device is up for pre-order with two options available for purchase: the indoor version of the FLIR FX, which will cost you $199 or the $249 outdoor version, which comes with a weatherproof case and additional lighting for night vision surveillance.

There is an additional cost for the cloud storage. The company is currently offering three different subscriptions:

  • FLIR Cloud Basic which is a free option and stores videos for up to 48 hours and and access to three RapidRecap highlight clips each month.
  • FLIR Cloud Plus which is $10/month $100/year lets users store up to seven days of footage and unlimited RapidRecaps
  • FLIR Cloud Premium which is $20/month or $200/year and gives users the ability to store 30 full days of online storage
