Internet Week Kicks off in NYC with the Webby Awards
Internet Week kicks off today May 18th 2015 in New York City, showcasing many facets of the city’s tech scene.
Events will be going on all week in The Big Apple, including the now infamous Webby Awards, startup exhibitions, panels and much more.
“Internet Week offers an opportunity to celebrate the digital present and preview our tech-infused future,” Allison Arden, the managing director of Internet Week, said in a statement.
The New York technology scene has made enormous strides in recent years and now offers employment to some 300,000 workers in the technology/computer science industry.
Most of Internet Week’s events are open to the public but do have an entrance fee attached to them. Monday night’s Webby Awards, honoring the best in digital media and startups, is an exception. Tickets for the Webby’s must be purchased in advance. Comedian Hannibal Burress is the host of the award show and winners who will be accepting include Pat Quinn, who started last year’s ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
