5 Craziest Subreddits To Get Shut Down

Reddit, known as the front page of the internet, is a complex and wild social network and news platform which helps topics go viral on the web.

Started in 2005 by two kids in a dorm room in Boston, the platform is traditionally known for its relaxed rules and regulations. However, Reddit has found itself in an awkward situation with its users after announcing their new anti-harassment policy.

The crackdown will shut down 5 of the craziest subreddit pages, one which had over 5,000 subscribers.

Here’s the list of the banned pages:
r/fatpeoplehate (151,000 subscribers)
r/hamplanethatred (3071 subscribers)
r/transfags (149)
r/neofag (1239)
r/shitniggerssay (219)

While many have pointed out that there are tons of subreddits just as offensive, don’t look for Reddit to take those pages down anytime soon. “We will ban subreddits that allow their communities to use the subreddit as a platform to harass individuals when moderators don’t take action. We’re banning behavior, not ideas,” reads the anti-harassment post.

With over 650,000 subreddits, shutting down five may seem small but it’s the first step in implementing some type of regulation.
